In my experiments so far, it seems the StyleRef syntax alone can only find Heading 1 text that occurs on the same page.

If you refer to these built-in styles with just their number, it works correctly across all Word language versions. This causes a "style not found" message, because Word tries to find "Heading 1" when that style is now called "Titre 1", for example. to the local language when you switch Word language versions. Word translates the style names of the built-in Heading 1, Heading 2, etc. NOTE2: If you use different language versions of Word at the same time (the UI language, not the document language), edit the field codes and replace STYLEREF "Heading 1" with STYLEREF 1. When you want the footer back, you create a new section break on page 34 (in this case Section 7), unlink it from Section 6, and then copy and paste the footer from Section 5 into the footer area of Section 7. Make sure that you deselect Link to Previous to break the link between Section 5 and Section 6. Otherwise, deleting the footer from Section 6 will also delete the footer in Section 5. Once you’ve done that you can safely delete the footer in Section 6. This is why you are initially seeing the footer. Notice the new section break in the figure below, and also the Status Bar where you can see that page 31 is now in Section 6.
